Do you know how to use your most powerful asset?

What would you do if you knew that you couldn’t fail?

What would your life be like if you lived out your dreams?

What would your body look like and how much energy and confidence would you have?

Most of us live our lives ruled by fear; fear of not being enough and/or fear of being unloved. For some people this means never fulfilling any dreams and living a life of frustration and regret. At the age of 32, I feel that I’m truly living for the first time in my life. The decisions I now make are my decisions, moving me towards my goals and dreams.

This journey of mine started when I enrolled on my health coaching course at IIN in 2009, and has been gathering momentum since then. Before that I was a victim of my circumstance; I was held back by the belief that I wasn’t good enough and didn’t have the means. This weekend just gone, at Tony Robbins’ Unleash The Power Within conference, has been another pivotal moment in my progress. Do you want to know why?

This is not a metaphor – I really walked on fire! I walked across eight feet of burning embers about 1000°C with 6,500 other people. I should have burnt – that’s the law of nature, isn’t it? 1000°C + human skin = burning
The thing is, I didn’t burn. Instead, I celebrated like a lunatic because at that moment I knew that I could accomplish anything I put my mind to.

It turns out that the mind is far more powerful than we ever imagined. If your mind can convince your skin that it’s walking over cool moss instead of 1000°C heat and therefore not burn, what else can it do? Just contemplate the meaning of this; your mind (yes, yours) can control what happens in your body. It can protect your body from harm as well as heal your body from illness and disease. Can you grasp the extent of power your mind has?

One of my favourite people at the moment is Skip, The Naked Health Detective. He and I share the same mission to empower people to heal and be abundantly healthy, but the reason why I’m such a fan is down to what he has achieved. In his late teens, Skip was training as a gymnast and was tipped to win the British Championships. One day during practice he broke his back, severing his spine clean in half! He was told he would never walk again, let alone do gymnastics. Initially, he was miserable and disheartened, but then someone told him how Bruce Lee had healed himself from a broken back and bounced back to become one of the biggest 20th century icons. At that moment Skip decided that he would also heal from his injury and win the championships. He did just that!

Skip and Bruce Lee are not unique or special; their secret is simply conviction. If you are reading this telling yourself that this won’t work for you, you are right – with that mindset it won’t! You must believe, with total and complete conviction that you can. And then you will.

Here are three tips for tuning your mind:

  1. Gratitude and celebration. Be grateful for everything you have in your life, from the biggest to the seemingly insignificant. Celebrate every success. Get yourself a notebook and aim to write a minimum of 10 gratitudes a day.
  2. Focus. Focus on what it is that you really want. Be specific – what exactly is it and when do you want it by, realistically? Make time every day to focus on it. Convince yourself that you will have what it is you want. Leave no doubt in your mind. The how will take care of itself.
  3. Get inspired. Who has achieved what you want to achieve? What did they do and how? Read biographies and talk to people. Collect as much evidence as you can to back up your beliefs.

These simple tools will change your life, when you apply them. They have certainly changed mine; and now that I’m a fire-walker, I’ll be unstoppable! šŸ™‚
